iMovie HD >4GB clips

In iMovie it use ot automatically break clips at 9 or 10 minutes keeping the file size down. In iMovie HD the clips are as long as the camera is on. My wife recorded our sons soccer game and had a tape for each half. Each tape was about 10GB. I tried to transfer the files to an external HD but at 4GB it stops with an error 1309 (file to big). Does anyone know a work around or do I need to make several clips instead of 1 big one?

    Is the external HD formatted as Fat 32? If so that's your problem. Fat 32 does not support file sizes over 4 Gigs. If it was formatted in Mac HFS+ there would be no file size limit.

    That was it thanks. Good thing I got a bunch of old HD's to transfer 100GB of stuff around.
