Is it time for my sister and her boyfriend to implement their motorcycle escape plan?

Just once I'd like an opportunity to have to do that.

If it turns out to be as bad as projected it will be interesting to see how many people stay and try to "weather the storm". Some would reason that should have been some lessons learned from the past two storms.

But I am sure that will be Bush's fault also.

Wilma expected to make landfall in the morning at NaplesX. Batten down those hatches, south Florida.

Wilma is passing over now. I'm in Melbourne FL, which got the direct hit from Frances and Jeanne last year. Frances hit us as a category 4, and did a lot of damage, and I imagine that's more or less how it's going to be in Naples. There was major beach erosion, structural, and power/telephone line damage everywhere.

We're not getting much of Wilma, since we're about 100-130 miles north of the eye right now. Probably 50-60 mph winds and a lot of rain. The causeway is shut down, though, so I'm stuck on the island until it passes. . . shucks.

I'm in Miami. My house is fine, but all my neighbors roofs had their shingles completely blown off. Glad I spent the dough to fix mine 2 years ago.

It was a heck of a storm. The rafters were creaking and moaning under the strain of the wind. It was really creepy.

By the way, dial-up is a godsend, but really, really, slow...
