i know they were somewhat shady to begin with, but they sold a lot of products, and got pretty decent reviews from mac mags for their stuff. i eve bought their The Mouse, which is okay, but it has its issues (like it's really difficult at times to JUST click one button or the other... since their both created out of the same acrylic shell, it's really too easy to accidentally press one and have the other button activate. anyway, that digression aside...).

well, i just bought an isight camera, and i'd like to get their sightflex (yeah, i know it's a pretty simple product, but i don't know anyone else who makes such a thing), but their domain seems to be down... did someone not pay a bill?

their canadian domain still seems up (macmice.ca), but it redirects to mac-pro.com for purchasing, and they only have one piece of hardware in stock, the micflex.

hmmm...

I think they changed their name to DVForge. Here's a site that lists a bunch of their products.

aha... i guess they rebranded since they were doing more than just mice, though mac-pro seems to be JUST a distributor. can't seem to find company info anywhere.

oh well, no matter. i found that megamacs still has the sightflex in stock, so i got two, to offset the shipping costs a bit. That's the one thing i have not been pleased with in my 24 hours o ownership of the isight are its stands. and the firewire cable they give you just falls apart. but the camera itself is good and DURABLE (it accidentally fell on the floor last night when its carrying container opened up... hint of advice, if you buy an isight, and use their plastic carrying cylinder, close the lid UNTIL IT CLICKS SHUT (a fact the user's guide doesn't mention), otherwise, it's not completely on and will fall open and drop your new isight on the floor before you even get a chance to try it out).

otherwise, pretty happy. i may buy one of these for my wife at her office, and maybe a friend or two living far, far away.

well, i guess THIS answers my question, huh?

glad i bought two sightflexes. they're actually quite nice, and a million times better than the apple stands in terms of versatility. sure, a little bulky, but it works as advertised.
