Anyone excited about the next ibook version?

Hey y'all

The clamshell graphite ibook was the very first NEW computer I bought back in 2000. And I knew I was hooked. That version lasted 2 years until the new and current form factor...the"icebook" came out in 2001.

I eventually bought one of those...which I still have a G3 12" icebook.

Now I love it...don't get me wrong. Best knock around laptop I've owned. Great for travelling.

But its been over 4 years now since the ibook has gone thru a major form factor change. I am REALLY looking forward to that. I was going to get a new one this past summer. I think its a great buy. But I decided to wait until MWSF to see what happens then.

The thought of a form factor change finally coming is very exciting. I wonder what it will look like? Or do you think Apple will keep the same form as now when they switch to intel? From past memory, it seems that MWSF is when powerbooks are updated, and ibooks usually get a major update in the spring.

I've heard rumours about a widescreen ibook. What do u think?

I'm itching to get one. But can't justify an upgrade right now.

Finally some love for the iBook... I too think it would be absoutlely amazing to see a new iBook... And a widescreen one... pretty awesome. Probably sometime in Q1, OR Q2 2006.

No doubt! ibooks don't get the respect they deserve sometimes. I've got my G5 at home for heavy video/animation stuff...but when I'm on the road, I find that the ibook is the perfect little solution.

Like you, I can't wait to see where Steve takes the ibook next. Hopefully we will find out in a few months.

The ibook is almost there. I've always liked the powerbooks, but at this point the only thing the ibook needs to make me happy is a ~13" widescreen at the 15" powerbook's old resolution.

Perhaps white is getting long in the tooth. But the materials and form of the iBook will be VERY hard to beat.

I agree, they don't look awful and scratched after a trip, extremly durable, and they stick out from PC laptops. Nice and cool too.

Agree, when I look at my 12" iBook I think it's pretty much the perfect laptop. What would tempt me to upgrade: (a) Faster G4 at 1.5GHz or better, (b) bigger hard drive, and (c) 13" Widescreen.
