Performance in The new Powerbook 17"
I have since last February a beautiful 17" Poverbook 1,67 with 2G ram,
I use it mostly for editing Picture(my very big passion!) and i'm very happy with it.
I just made a pre order of the Aperture Software from Apple that should make my work with raw files immage better, and for some crazy reason i'm tempted to sell my powerbook and buying the new one.....
My point are:
Does the new 17" display is clearly sharper than the previous one?
Doeas the faster ddr2 ram memory(with 2G) will make programs like Aperture working better)
What about the option 100GB 7200rpm,does this make those application run faster?
I hear that in a year there will probably be a Intel powerbook, up to that moment any possibility of and G4 processor clock speed upgrade?
if yes ,when??
Shall i wait??
Thanks a lot to all for your passion to those lots of question!!!

The RAM is faster, but Apple is running it at the old speed, so you will not get bany better performance from it.
The 7200 HDD option is the way to go. You will notice faster EVERYTHING with this speed. Whenever the hard drive is accessed, whether for launching an app, or for virtual memory usage, you will see a dramatic difference - even from 5400 RPM.
check out barefeats.com for some hard drive benchmarks.
As far as upgrading now - if I were you, I would wait. you already have an awesome machine. The new one is certainly no reason to upgrade. In one year or less, Apple will have dual core Powerbooks. Then you may wish to upgrade.
As I am in the market for my first notebook, I am buying now.
