inconsistent scroll speeds; a uniform problem across all 5Gs???

i've noticed that with my 5G iPod, when ever im playing a song scrolling through thousands or artists or songs becomes really jerky. That is the scroll wheel seems to lag, it doesn't travel smoothly from one to the next.
Also the hyperspeed- where it will accelerate scrolling - doesn't kick in at all. This is pretty annoying.
As soon as you pause the song the problem is gone.
Anyway, what i want to know, is this a bug in ALL 5Gs, or is this a fault in mine (and other peoples')? Does anyone definetly not have this problem?

PS. i've read that it's connected to album artwork display, but i found that with artwork turned off the problem persisted. I've also tried re-optimizing all artwork; no luck.

i was actually trying to fix a problem where my iPod takes a while to eject (manually or auto) but fixed this instead.
Previously i had tried taking off all the songs and putting them back on. Well this time i used the iPod Updater and did a 'Restore iPod' and now it works well
