Pages requiring a LOT of resources ?

I have recently noticed that my computer is running very hot when I run Apple Pages. I have a 1.25GHz PowerBook 15", and running "top" in the terminal shows that pages often use more than 50% of the CPU, and I've seen it as high as 70%. Is this normal, or should i try to re-install ?
I have noticed that my computer is running very hot lately, and I'm not sure if I should attempt to format and re-install or if its just the rising temperature now with summer on the "doorstep". I live in Brisbane, Australia and right now its a comfy 27 degrees centigrade (around 80 degrees farenheit).
