I'm frustrated as all hell with Quicktime 7

I'll be getting the new iMac G5 within the next couple of weeks, but until then, I still have my iMac G3.

And since I've updated my Quicktime to 7, everything I want to play online totally sucks. Yeah, I know my computer is slower than what's out there now, but I never had this problem with QT6. Everything worked smooth and clean, and I could watch any trailer I wanted online with no jerkiness or anything.

Now, getting a trailer to play without pausing and remaining a still image is almost impossible. None of the HD trailers work properly, either. I've even tried playing the trailers within iTunes and I have the same problem. It's like my Quicktime is broken and won't work properly anymore.

The weird thing with QT7 tho is that the trailer for Looking for Comedy in the Muslim World (very funny, btw) runs *perfectly* when I connect to this link, but if I try to run the same trailer from the Apple site, it's a no go.

What's wrong? I've even adjusted my settings lower than I previously had them (I have DSL), and still nothing works properly. I'm so frustrated, I don't know what to do. I want to see the new King Kong trailer, but at this point, I'm out of luck. Can anyone help me?

HD content chokes on G4 systems so I doubt a G3 will be able to play HD content. I don't know why non-HD stuff would choke though.

h.264 content doesn't have to be in HD resolution.

Do you have the min specs at: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/player/specs.html ?

Note that while there are no SD H.264 specs listed for the Mac, the Windows requirements are a 1.5GHz P4, etc.

As for a movie working through one link and not another, I'd put that down to streaming differences on the server end.

    Guys, guys...

I appreciate the input, but I don't think you're getting what I'm saying.

My ability to view trailers and other online content was PERFECTLY FINE until I installed QT7.

With QT6, it all worked. Now, it doesn't. My settings or specs haven't changed. Just the QT software.

I understand that I can't run HD stuff. Fine. But nothing else works, either, and that's what's driving me crazy.

Is there any way I can uninstall 7 and re-install 6? Is that the solution?

Nope, got that, but QT Server has the ability to ask 'what formats can you handle'? QT7 may be (erroneously for your HW) saying 'H.264' when QT6 was saying 'MPEG-2'.

Is it just streams you have a problem with, or downloaded files too?

So where would I change those settings?

I know for sure it happens when I stream from Apple (but not other sites), but I haven't downloaded anything recently, so I wouldn't be able to answer that question.
