How to covert folder into 2GB .dmg segments in one step?

Is there a way in Disk Utility to covert a folder to 2GB or DVD sized segments in one step that I am not seeing?

As it stands, I covert a folder to a .dmg and then use the command line to segment.

If DU can't do this, I am looking for a way to create .dmg segments on the fly without having to create a .dmg first.

Disk Utility (the GUI) does not have this option from the get-go, but the underling command line program does. Take a look at 'man hdiutil' and then use the 'segmentSize' option.
