I am looking to convert some movies on VHS to DVD using i movie and i dvd and am thinking of buying either the Miglia directors cut take 2 or the Canopus dv convertor--both are about the same price--since I'm going to be using the Apple software--does it make any difference which one I get?

Has any one used any analog to dv converter and done this.

i do some vhs to dvd conversion from time to time. But since i am cheap as a chicken in heat (cheap cheap cheap) i just plug my vcr into my dv camera and then run the dv camera into imovie. Thats the poor mans way of doing it i guess. takes an extra step but i can buy alot of dv tapes for the price if another converter. Have fun Randy

I've been using the Miglia to convert VHS to DV and most of the time it works fine. I did run into a problem when converting some old home movies where the quality was very bad as it kept crashing iMovie. Final cut express was much more robust and imported it ok, but sometimes it gave the warning notice that there had been dropped frames. I could still use the files though.

That's also how I do it. And some cameras have pass through so it doesn't take two steps.
