Potential ATI X800XT problem query

I've just swapped out an Nvidia 6800GT for an ATI X800XT (latest bios/displays sw) and just about every game shows some form of problem. Blinking textures in SW:Battlefronts, Halo 1.52 has awful noise and tearing, BF1942 is fine until you add FSAA when I get major artefacts, tearing, flashing etc.



Does anyone have any ideas what might be up? or any tests to see what's going on.
