Subject "Expertise" Labels for Senior Members?

I've been thinking lately about how diverse the knowledge base of our users are around here. Some know a LOT about Linux while others know a LOT about computer animation.

Might there be a way that Senior Members can have searchable "expertise labels" attached to them so that we can better know who knows what about what? Each user could have up to 3, for example. If someone wanted to know about Photoshop, they could search for the "Photoshop" expertise label and get a list of names of Senior Members with that label. A list of categories could include:

Video Editing - Avid

Video Editing - Apple

Video Editing - Adobe

Photoshop

Web Design - HTML

Web Design - XML

Web Design - ASP/PHP

Linux

Mac OS X Development

Windows Development

iPod

Console Gaming

...and so on. Obviously there's not a good way to determine actual "expertise," but limiting Senior Member to 3 labels would cause them to choose wisely what they're an "expert" in.

And they wouldn't have to be called "Experts." We could follow the "Genius" moniker or come up with something completely different.

Just thought I'd run it up the flag pole. Thanks!

    That's a very good idea.

I know I'm only a junior member, and this isn't exactly an expertise title.... but if I could receive the title of "Official Cheerleader for Steve Jobs," that would be insanely great.

The problem is that ONLY Steve Jobs can give you this title

Of course, if they're honest, most people's expertise would actually read Pr0n

    I like this idea.

I'll investigate how we could integrate this into the new forums.

Aww, thanks so much, Powerdoc!! I could just hug you...but of course that's impossible.

It's nice to know it's reserved, though.
