Network iMac DVSE for Cable Internet

We're trying to network a DVSE so it can use Optimum Online. It can't be a direct connect as we're trying to get around the second computer charge which is full price. Cablevision suggested networking it. The main computer with the service would be a new HP running Windows XP. Is it possible to network the iMac to the HP allowing them both to be on the Optimum Online network? I know in theory I could split the line and have one go to the HP and the other to a airport hub but I'd rather not do that. Any other thoughts. Thanks a lot.
