Bizzare Perspective in Bush Photo

So either Bush, who is only 5'11" (1.80 m), has suddenly become a giant or someone had a fish eye lens that made Bush here seem much much taller than the elite guests he played host to today.

For a sense of size Robert Redford (in the middle) is 5'10" (1.78 m)...

Perhaps they've turned the Oval Office into one of those trapezoidal forced perspective optical illusion rooms, as a tribute to Karl Rove.

Over the door is a brass plaque which reads:

"The president is a giant, if you look at it the right way".

Slightly off topic: It seems to me that the Kennedy Center Honors are one of the few award ceremonies left in this country that hasn't been prostituted.

It's definitely a fish eye lense.

Usually, this effect is corrected through a Photoshop filter plug-in.

This was featured on Colbert Report (or was it Daily Show?) last night.

This may be an honest thing. That is, a fisheye may have been needed to fit everyone in the photo.

This is an ultra wide angle lens with an orthoscopic perspective.

The left arm of the president is way bigger than the right one.

Considering that there was many photographs at this event, shooting with an ultra wide angle lens, was the only way to have all the characters in the scene.
