2006 Samsung DLP info
I read an article last week on a gaming site that interviewed a Samsung exec
about their tv's & next-gen gaming. He mentioned that the new 2006 dlp
models will not need spinning color wheels because of some new tech they
came out with. I think they mentioned 1080p input support as well. I was
trying to find the original article but I'm blanking out on where I read it
originally.
Does anyone have any info about these new 2006 models? I was checking
online with no luck. I was planning to pick up the 50" Samsung HL-R5078W
1080p DLP this spring for my gaming & tv needs but I may wait if these new
sets come out in the fall.
edit:
I think I found the story link but I can't check to be sure because of the
websense blocking software that we have at work.
Link.

Maybe they mean 3-chip DLP, which seems to be coming down in price.
If Samsung has indeed found a better way sans color wheel then that bodes well for those affected by seeing rainbows (I'm not one of them) .
I'll check AVS and see what they might be saying.
It's still a great display though.
