DVI monitor as a TV

I am looking for a way to use a DVI flatscreen Monitor as a TV. I am not in any way, shape, or form trying to do something with the computer. I am just looking for a TV type translator with a remote.

I am not looking for any features such as a DVR or anything like that. I just want to be able to plug a cable into one end and the DVI input into the other.

What would be great but not necessary is if it also had a DVI input so that i don;t have to move cables but if i had to, that wouldn't be the end of the world

Um, I presume you mean a TFT monitor that only has DVI input? In that case, you would have to find a tuner that has DVI output. Pretty hard and probably a waste of money, not to mention the content industry would rather you use HDMI.

So unless the monitor has TV inputs or at least VGA, you're probably out of luck for any reasonable sums of money.

My brother got one for VGA and it really doesn't work well. It not only was a cheap tuner, but it degraded the computer video too and washed out the colors.

Pure TV, pure computer, or TV on computer are your best options.

The first thing that comes to mind is a scaler with DVI/HDMI output, like the Algolith Dragonfly. Of course, a scaler costs more than your monitor.

A home theater receiver with HDMI upconversion might also work.

Or an ATSC OTA receiver with DVI/HDMI output.
