Author software for external DVD writters & capacity

I notice IDVD does not work with external burners



So can anyone tell me the name of any good (cheap) dvd authoring software for the mac that I could use with an external DVD writter? (this should in theory then be used with an ibook laptop.



Also can anyone say if the 90 minute video limit with IDVD is a software limitation or is this just the capacity of dvd-r? (I would have thought you could drop the mpg2 quality to get more on the disk, or is the quality settings fixed by the DVD standard?)

For software you're out of luck. Your best luck is to find the iDVD crack even though it's probably not legal.

90 minutes is an iDVD limit. DVD Studio Pro doesn't have that limit.

The 90 minute limit isn't really a limit. Its more that iDVD has a hardcoded quality setting and that equals to 90 minutes.



DVD Studio Pro can do VBR as well as custom quality settings that let you stretch the time out.
