when i first setup wi-fi on my laptop, i used WEP and when i started my computer, the computer found my network and connected to it. then i decided to try WPA shared key but didn't like it so i went back to WEP. now when i turn on my computer, the computer finds the network as its part of the available networks list, but it does not connect to it automatically. i have to click on the network name to connect to the network.

so how do i set my powerbook to automatically connect to the first available network in which i do not have to click on the network name first?

thanks.

Open the Network panel in System preferences. Select Airport from the pull down menu. In the Show menu select Airport.

An option appears "By default join". Enter the details of your network here and it should always join it when waking from sleep, etc.
