ThinkSecret reports:

"Rumblings have also suggested Apple will release an even larger Cinema Display than the company's current flagship 30-inch display, one capable of supporting all 11+ million pixels a 4K camera (4520x2540 resolution) will be able to capture."

Well, if the price is not astronomically high, I'll go for it. I just got recently a 30" display and I can't imagine working without one anymore.

There have been rumours of a 42" since before the 30" came out...

Might be more likely as an announcement at MWSF than at NAB, but perhaps not.

Also, Dell has yet to release a competitor to the 30" ACD. When this happens (soon, unless I missed something lately), expect a pressure on Apple's flagship display pricing. I think that we will see for some time price drops because of this and then a bigger display.

It's apparently missed the Dec 21st release date, but coming soon.

Thanks for the heads-up, but still no price. Really wondering how competitive this will be.

I hope to be around $3,500. it's high but with sacrifice someone can justify for working purposes. more than that only big shots in Hollywood will afford it.

For perspective, the original 22" Apple Cinema Display was US$4,000...

I'd expected it to come in around $1899.

At it's current price, the $300 difference between it and the Apple 30" panel isn't enough of an incentive to purchase for me. I'll bet it will be offered with coupons/'dell deals' for $1899 within 3 weeks. At that price it becomes more atttractive - in a purely non-aesthetic way.

That's WAY brighter than the ACD, 400 cd/m^2, compared to 270.

Is it even possible to make a 42" LCD? I thought they could only make them so big. Anyway, imagine the graphics card(s) needed to run such a giant.

Yes, I remember. It was so hard to afford it then.

Hopefully now with the technology more established the price won't be so high.

Those sizes of TV have been around forever, this is nothing particularly cool - it is not as if the LCD had 2000x4000 resolution or something, it is just a TV.
