QuickTime 6. Yeah, baby. :)
In case you haven't visited MacNN lately, here's a little info for you. A build of QuickTime 6 for Mac OS X has been leaked.
Performance has increased DRAMATICALLY on my dual 500 G4. Here's an example. With QT5, I can just play the large Duality movie normally without problems. However, if I double the size or try to fast-forward through it, it skips and stalls horribly. With QT6, I can double the size AND speed through it with no problems at all! It's smooth as buttah'. Also, you can play... [insert drumroll] DivX and MPEG4 movies natively! The .avi audio bug has been partially fixed, too. Sound plays okay now without needing to convert to .mov, but for me it clicks every few seconds. Not perfect, but certainly getting there.

Any questions? I'll be glad to test anything.

I get the error:

But at least that's progress!

What is the performance of QT6 with DivX?
Any idea when it should go golden? I want to upgrade to QT Pro but I'm gonna wait for 6. WWDC maybe?

It's been golden since QTLive. Apple is trying to get the licencing terms changed before they distribute it. This is due to Broadcaster.
See the May02 MacAddict for more.
WAIT before going Pro!! I can't stress that enough! QT6 needs a newer license that is different from QT5 (like how QT5 was different from QT3/4).
Anyway, I'm not going to give out specific server names and incite rioting in the sharing community like Liquidity X did at MacNN.
Any chance in giving us a hint where to get it?

Come on kids. Where else are you going to find this stuff. Check your local Carracho, Hotline, KDX servers. Also, easier, try Limewire.
BTW, anyone notice how Limewire 2.3 kicks a lot of booty now? Faster and the interface overhaul is MUCH welcomed
Any ideas?
Thanks!
Just out of interest... If you did install a pre-release version of QuickTime 6, and found it buggy, not to your liking, or just didn't want it on your computer, how would you remove it? As far as I can see, there isn't an installer for QT 5 that you can download for MacOS X, as it's included, so I'm not sure how exactly you'd get rid of a QT 6 install...
Any ideas?
Thanks!
