this just appeared, looks pretty convicing

New iMac and Powermac specs ...and a surprise?(01/04/2002)

We have recieved the following e-mail with alleged prices and specs of the new iMacs and

Powermacs. The information in this e-mail supports and validates other information that we have,

although we question some details such as X.2 being ready in time. The numbers beside the

names are alleged CompUSA part numbers.

It has also come to our attention that organizers have been placing a strip of double-sided tape

underneath every tenth chair in the area will Jobs' will be presenting his key note. "Look under

your seat"? It has happened before... all we can say is: take the time to becareful where you sit.

looks too good to be true.. espcially the iMac price points, considering they have a Radeon 7k and a LCD... and 10.2 is not ready yet, supposedly.

    Would be great though.

What gets me is why would Apple only have 10.2 on the G4 iMacs and not on the lower end, original iMacs. That just does not make sense as Apple would put 10.2 on all there computers. If Spymac is right, I will have all my faith in them when MWNY comes.

Also, AI says that 10.2 "is still in early development."

    Shit, I'll take one!

Why 2 iMacs the same price? Or is that a BTO that will be in stock for CompUSA? Kinda of "either or" type of thing.

    I hope so

Bogus, why would they reduce the size of the CRT iMac? They wouldn't do that even if the LCD's came in 14s

on first reading this all seemed to ring true. After reading all the rumours flying around all the specs seem to fit. The G5 has always be a processor for the mid/late year. As someone said elsewhere, Jobs can now stand there and say that he has a theoretical 2.8 Ghz machine, something PC's don't. I also don't believe they would of replaced the CRT iMacs unless they could have kept the prices the same with LCD's. Sadly the iWalk seems to ring true if all this is right, what would apple be without producing a duff product once a year. It won't sell, I know I once owned a Newton....a bit like a breadmaking machine....great for a while but the novelty wears off.

I am busy not reading Niklas Luhmann "Soziale Systeme" for my exam next week. Those of you who have a university degree in anything computer related must know him or at least it would be a good read for you.

Spymac isn't making this stuff up. It looks like people send them information and they post it, regardless on whether its true or not.

They are a rumor site. Therefore, they post rumors. Plus, when was the last time the rumor sites were right? : <img src="graemlins/hmmm.gif" border="0" alt="[Hmmm]" />

And they didn't even check the order numbers.

    M8545LL/A exists today - it's Mac OS X

    Fran, exactly what I think.

As I've said before.. I welcome Spymac as a new rumor site.. they are fresh and seem to have update lots...

And about the accuracy of them.. who cares. Look at MOSR, that doesn't stop them.
