Canon LiDE 55 Won't Scan With 10.4

Anyone else experiencing this problem?

iMac G5 2.1GHz

Mac OS 10.4.4 (does not seem to work with any 10.4.x)

Photoshop CS2 (or GraphicConverter)

It sounds as it will scan and then SBD (spinning beach ball of death).

Nope, just straight spinning beach ball of death. Then I have to force quit Photoshop.

    Hi

Why I asked is I have an LIDE 50 and had similar problems.

The only thing that has so far worked for me is to download the ToolBox app and plugin from canon and install those and all has been working ever since.

It is also a possibility that photoshop isn't seeing the plugin for the scanner correctly.

I will try that but I also tried using GraphicConverter. All of these applications scanned just fine prior to 10.4 So I dunno.....

Try Image Capture (in the Applications folder) this way:

Image Capture works with scanners that have driver software for Mac OS X. It also works with some TWAIN-compatible scanners.

To find out if your scanner is compatible with Mac OS X, check with the scanner's manufacturer, or go to the peripheral compatibility webpage at

    http://www.apple.com/macosx/upgrade/devices.html

If that doesn't work, chooses Devices > Browse Devices. Under TWAIN devices, select your scanner, and select "Use TWAIN Interface." Then Click Connect. To learn how to perform scans with the dialog that appears, see the documentation that came with your scanner.

You may have to go with VueScan if nothing pans out.

Maybe it's the scanner. It does not work in Image Capture (not supported) and the same thing happens in VueScan that happens in GraphicConverter or Photoshop. \
