I have VPC, and I would like to load an exicutible file from my desktop into the dos window, and get it run, but I'm lost.

Hold on, you payed for a hundred-plus dollar package and don't know how to work it?

What exactly do you need to know? How to use Windows? How to use DOS?

Thanks for the help Airsluf, but getting it to the top level of the C: directory is where I'm confused.

Explorer will either be an entry in the Start Menu, or you may have to Run via the Start Menu and type in "explorer" to get it started.

I think he's trying to get it into the DOS version not windows.

Click Start > Run and type COMMAND (or CMD if you are using NT/2000/XP). This will run a command prompt. If you are not at the root of C\ just type CD\\ and that should take you to the root of C\ (providing it was at the C: prompt)

It would be more beneficial if you gave exact details of your problem and maybe we could be of more help.

    Windows XP:

I have a friend's copy of XP (the update version, but works fine when I insert a Win98 CD in to "Validate")

So, how do I get around the serial number/product activation mumbo-jumbo? Trying this on Virtual PC 5.0.2 on my iBook 500. I heard XP was fast, so hence the XP. Surfer's Serials has Windows XP serials, but I guess they are tailored to fit only one single CD??? My friend didn't give me the case w/ serial number! So is there a way around the stupid M$ serial number/product activation? Anyone other version of Winblows I should try instead? It seems to me like Windows 2000 is Windows XP but slower and older. Plus, Win 9X stuff won't run on 2000, will it?

I can't wait to get into VPC! Too bad it says BeOS won't run, however

From what I have read you are trying to get files from your Mac Desktop to copy to the DOS OS in VPC. If htis is the case, you cannot do it. Not without Windows installed. There are Virtual device drivers that are installed within windows to make this work. If you had read your documentation that came with the program you would have known this.
