is there anyway for the built-in slideshow to display more than 100 images when more than 100 images are selected in Finder. thanks.

JPEG images taken with a digital camera upto 5.0 megapixel resolution.

Yeah, that is an annoying limitation, and it doesn't even let you know that it doesn't display them.

Unfortunatly the answer is No.
Hopefully in future release of OS X there will be some sort of filmstrip type view in the finder for improved browsing of rich media.
