Stocks Fall - Intel fails to set marks

Can someone explain why the stock market would drop based on a drop in Intel's price due to the fact that Intel did not meet the expectations of some idiot analyst who has nothing to do with the company and simply sets a random number on them and then criticizes them for not meeting his expectations?

Didn't Intel just make a major presentation with a VERY LARGE fruit distributor?

    1) No, they made the presentation many month ago.

    2) No. Apple is not VERY LARGE customer of Intel chips compared to other Intel customers. Alone Dells talk about possible use of AMD chips is more important. Even if Dell chose to use AMD processors in just a small part of their computers it would have a larger impact on Intel than Apples decision.

That doesn't answer my primary question.

Now Apple is meeting the same fate... What is it with the analysts? What is it with the stock market? If we just stopped the stock market, so many things might be better, because all it really is is rich people getting richer at the expense of the common guy.

Regarding Apple, it is profit taking, for one thing, I think. Also, Apple was conservative in its estimates. So what? Actually, if one must analyse the market's behaviour, one may think that this scenario will see Apple stock give some ground back, and then when Apple begins to see more sales of intel Macs pick up, and if they advance in the consumer/entertainment area, then the analysts may say, 'Look here. Apple is really moving again.' So they will have sold, and took profit, and then buy again at the lower point, and then ride again.

I don't know if I will be able to move fast enough, and it is hard to gauge purchase time.

It is how things work, like you said, for the profit of the wealthy.

For intel, if Apple begins to sell better, it will be good for them. But it is true that if dell goes more to AMD, it will hurt intel.

I would say given intel's plan for the viiv, that if intel goes down, it would be a good idea to think about buying. They are the largest cpu maker in the world.

The quality of a company is no guarantee of its stock seeing a rise.
