Here's how it should go...
9:00 am PST-, January 7
The lights go down in the auditorium. Steve Jobs, in traditional native garb, sits down in front of a monitor and keyboard. On the large screen behind him is revealed a Windows XP desktop. Boos issue from the crowd.
"Oh, it's not such a bad OS", says Steve. He mouses around, opening the start menu, fooling with the control panels, scrolling through an Explorer web page. The OS displays speed and fluidity.
"it's got all the great games, too", he continues. He maximizes a window showing the Medal of Honor single-player demo. The game play is fluid, the detail level obviously high. He shoots a few Nazis, blows himself up with a hand grenade, quits out of the program. We're back at the XP desktop.
"But, y'know, it's just not a Mac, is it?"
With that, he hits a command-key sequence and a dialog pops up. "Would you like to save the PC state?".
About half the audience roars, understanding that what they've just been watching wasn't a state-of-the-art PC, but Virtual PC on a very fast Mac. The rest of the crowd joins in as the Mac desktop appears. Centered on the background image is a large "5".
