Wireless internet speed question

I have a G4 iBook and my wife has the new Mac Intel duo--both using Airport cards set at 802.11g-both running side by side.

My downloads are significantly faster than hers--both computers are set up identically--same WAP security etc.

Why do you think that is?

Have the cards been changed in the last 2 years?

No. Download speeds may be variable due to physical factors like airport antenna positioning, due to software factors like non-native code on the intel machine running with rosetta, or due to hardware factors like disk speed.

I just have to say that sound silly, x4.4 is entirely native. so I expect that airport software to be native. secondly unless he crammed a 7200 rpm drive in his PB then then his iMac should be faster., if he did then it should be a draw in that department. Sorry I don't have anything helpful to add since the PB are notorious for bad reception its strange that its the winner in your case.

Do the signal strengths look the same? If not it could be a loose antenna connection on the iMac causing the slower download speed.
