What does the Mail in .mac Sync actually sync?

Having two Macs, I'm trying to keep things synced up as best as possible, but it sure is difficult.
.mac has an option in its syncing pane, to sync "Mail Accounts," but when I do this mail doesn't actually update between machines. For example, if I have two extra mails on machine x, even after syncing a couple days, machine y doesn't show those mails.
The best way I've found to sync mail is to use Backup because it has a pre-set tick-box for backing up mail and mail settings. I then just copy over those backups to the second machine and restore. Works fine, but its a lot of steps.
For my Documents, iPhoto, and iTunes folders I just drag the up to date machine's folder to the new machine and allow it to replace the old one. Again, a bit of a pain, but at least it works.
I was just curious though what the "Mail Accounts" syncing in .mac is suppose to do because I don't see it do much of anything. Thanks.

It just syncs the account- not what is in the account. It also sync smart folder too.
