The Background:

Long story but in essence... I have been having trouble with my NVIDEA GeForce 6800 GT since the day I added a second screen. (flashing screens, corrupted pixels flickering on screen)

Applecare have already swapped out the card for a replacement (same card) and the problem persists. It as now been escalated to Apple in the US (from europe).

(We know it is defiantly NOT the monitors with the problems)

Ok the question:

Applecare have offered to replace the card with an ATI 9800XT, I think this is a bad swap for me for the following reasons.

1. I paid extra for the GeForce and the 9800XT is a cheaper card

2. The 9800XT was the end of older style card technology as the 6800 was the start of newer

3. The X800XT is the comparable card to the 6800

Am I right in thinking this ?

What would you guys do ?

Has Apple sold systems with X800 AGP cards? Have you tried a third swapout? If they can't provide a comparable card, then I would suggest requesting a refund of the difference you paid to get the better card.
