Image Editing Program

Here is my little Dilemma. I'm a recent convert to Mac and I use to have Photoshop 6 (warez, I know it's wrong) for Windows, and it worked for all my needs, but now I don't have anything, and I'm a high school student. I do know a place that will give high school students discounts (http://www.academicsuperstore.com/) but I don't have $288 for Photoshop 7 at the moment. Is there any free program that I can use for now that will change file formats of images and editing for the time being. Thanks.

    Try Graphic Converter from Lemke Software. You can find it through versiontracker.com. It isn't free but it IS shareware and well worth the $30 if it does what you need it to do. I use it, even thought I _do_ own Photoshop.
