Found this MacBook Pro User's Guide for everyone awaiting the arrival of their computer. While you're waiting, why not brush up on the manual so you don't have to waste precious time!!!

PAGE 72, IT SAYS:

Using Your SuperDrive

With your SuperDrive, you can:

Install or use software from CDs or DVDs

Play multimedia on CD discs and music from audio CDs

Write music, documents, and other digital files to CD-R and CD-RW discs

Play DVD movies and use most DVD discs (single-layer)

 Record information on blank single-layer DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, and DVD+RW discs

wonder why Apple puts single-layer in like that, when on their website it says dual-layer DVD-ROMs are read at 6x.

I thought the MacBook Pro's SuperDrive was only single-layer. That, and the absence of FireWire 800, were the main bitching points on the day of its introduction.

It's supposed to be able to READ them, but not write to them. Apple couldn't find a manufacturer to produce enough dual-layer DVD burners in the 9.5mm size. Maybe this will become available on the 17-inch model.

    DL-DVDs are pointless...

With HD-DVDs and Blu-Ray supposedly coming out this year and presumably at a much lower cost/disk, DL-DVDs are a waste of money...
