Well after all the fuzz I found this offering from DELL:

http://www1.us.dell.com/content/prod...=19&l=en&s=dhs

So 11.1" & 13.3" could wait..

Imagine that screen on the new MacBooks (iBooks)

I'll buy 1.

What do ya think?

Put in a core duo and that is pretty much what I'm looking for.

I have a PC using friend that just got one of those and the screen looks great. I would love that display on an iBook.

A new screen would be nice, but smaller and lighter would be better. Did you see the Dell's specs? It's a bit lighter, but thicker and wider than the 12" PB. Not what I would call "Ultra-portable" as Dell does.

I agree that Dell's definition of "Ultra-portable" is a bit skewed. I mean look at the XPS laptops. They are freakin' boat anchors! As far as smaller and lighter, I think that a 12" notebook is a great size. If you go too small you loose functionality.

Has anyone noticed that the color scheem looks a little iBook-esq? I have never seen a Dell with that much white/light silver before. When my friend showed me hers, I almost made a comment to this effect. Just a thought...
