I would like my next computer to meet at least my current PC's requirements.

I will do some DVD authoring and editing. But not professionally (just personal stuff).

What do you suggest? The new iBooks due this Spring?

I want a laptop.

Here is my current model.

If you want a laptop, a MacBook Pro is the way to go.

A 3.0 Ghz with HyperThreading, 128 VRAM ATi, 15" display, replaced by an iBook?

Um, don't really think so, but hey, I could be wrong.

Nice use of smilies. I like!

Anyhow, I'd say wait and see on the iBook. I'm sure you'd be happy with a MacBook Pro.

Certainly not. Party hats for all, and welcome to Apple Insider, with its long standing "no enforced pairing up of members based on post count" policy, my little josh notwithstanding.

It wasn't wildly insightful, don't worry.

    My pleasure.

And since we're fellow Californians, here are a few useful phrases to help you fit right in:

When in Future Hardware: "Apple must make a phone/DVR/Newton replacement/headless iMac/easily upgradable minitower immediately or it will become irrelevant!"

When in Current Hardware: "Holy shit, are the laptops suppose to get this hot?"

When in Mac OS: "Say, is it teh snappy? yet?"

When in Political Outsider: Don't go there. It's the bastard step-child of the whole operation, and we who are in its grip weep bitter tears.
