won't read external HD

Hi there,

Well I bit the bullet and purchased an iBook. I have an external which I always used for my PC and it works fine on there.

Obvioulsy I transferred all my stuff to there, so I could bring it my new mac.

But it won't read it. Any sugestions?

    If your external drive is NTFS formatted, it will be read only. You'd need to wipe it and reformat in FAT32 for the Mac to be able to read/write the files (if that's the problem).

    Thanks for the reply.

    I have to shutdown the iBook for a minute or so, then the external will be read.

    But if Iremember corrrectly, are there not issues in regards to minimum file size for FAT32?

    I believe 4GB is the magic number.



    EDIT: Woops, I thought you said Max file-size.

    AhA! that is what I meant. Thank you. (I do have one or two files larger than that).
