Many of us ANers are also surreptitiously AIAOers...
We can only take so much bickering...
Yeah, I know. And I can take only so much locker room towel snapping and witty banter.
My theory is that the split is something along the lines of the "Good Kirk/Bad Kirk" ST episode. Bad Kirk creepy and vindictive but good in a fight, good Kirk pleasant enough but feckless,

I wasn't around for what was, and I'm not altogether sure of what is - but I'm kind of liking it . For that, I'd like to Thank all responsible and hope this site is around for many moons to come 8)!
There was much displeasure in the way this site was run. A group of moderators/administrators/members fomented a move to a new site, but events precipitated it before the site was completely ready... In any event there is another apple related forum that was created by these moderators/administrators... It is loosely associated with ThinkSecret.
Oh, high drama on the intarnet. I'm shocked and appalled. Sounds kinda like what we did here except without any of the admins or mods.
There was a period where these boards were down more than they were up. Members would gather in the chat room and the cry would go out "The boards are down! The boards are down!" Sometimes the boards would stay down for hours, days or weeks and sometimes threads would be lost.
A lot of people here probably don't realize that AI existed well before "Nov. 2001," the earliest date on anybody's profile. November 2001 is when AI returned from the "blackout" of several months. Before that it'd existed for a couple of years, if I recall correctly. All said and done, I think I first found AI in late 1999 when I was trying to find out when the replacement to the SCSI Powerbook (a.k.a. Lombard) was going to be released.
I've been on boards like that before. I was a Mod on one based in Australia. The Admin couldn't afford to keep it up, so he took it down completely. It was a sad day. I trust AI won't share the same fate.

I found out about it because off all the refugees at MacNN during those outages.

Very little on this board literally makes me laugh out loud. Thanks for that!
