Am i unreasonably greedy?
A friend has put me in an odd situation. We are on the same team to develop a project in a college class. His family owns a small company in the same industry. He has laid out an idea for the project that we have all agreed on and decided to do (too late to turn back.) Now he wants to sell the result of the project to his customers.
My contention is that he should pay us a cut, after all, it is a group project, he said "absolutly not" numorus times when confronted. What can I do?
he says that we are all working for the same grade, and what happens to the material after that has nothing to do with the group.
Am I just a greedy bastard? Do I have a right to want a cut?

It may not be his to sell. Check your university's policies on ownership of class products. It'll be in the policies and procedures manual, most likely, which should be available through your uni's website (search for PPM).
Nevertheless, you should see if your friend can recommend a buyer for it that you and your peers might take it to, since he's willing to reap a profit off of your group's labors without giving you a cut.

I have told him that I will send copies of the intelectual property to all his potential clients (insainly vertical-industrial tool) and maybe post them oline for free...as in speech and beer... he didnt like that, but he may not have a choice.
Anyway, I say screw him over. If he's willing to treat you like that then you owe him nothing. That's why you tend to find rich people to be such low lifes. They make money because they get other people to do the work and they take the reward. Because the hard workers are still poor, the rich man can pay them to do more work for little money.
In short, you are not the greedy one, he is by not sharing the reward of a collective effort.
So screw him over and give him a kick in the nuts too, he sounds like a right little sh*t.
