Set up workgroup and connect to a domain

My OS is OS X 10.2

I have looked through the network setup. I couldn't find where to set the workgroup or domain for networking purpose. When I access the Mac from another computer, it shows it belongs to a workgroup called "workgroup" which I think is a default name for the purpose. I tried the Mac help on the computer and I couldn't get anywhere.

Never had 10.2, but in later versions it's under Applications->Utilities->Directory Access->SMB/CIFS.

ehh, i wouldn't recommend putting Jaguar on a Windows domain. It's not that easy. If the purpose is to authenticate your local cached account to the Windows account. I would really look into buying a copy of Panther (10.3) or Tiger (10.4). The Active Directory plugin for Directory Access is pretty good when patched with the latest versions of the OS.

It's a surprise. I thought I had seen Macs in Windows's domains before. I believe from NT4, Windows provides a way to communicate with Apple computer if I'm not wrong. That was ages ago. How would they handle workgroups and domains for Apple computers? I wonder.

By the way, how would OS X servers group the computers? Would they have similar grouping?
