Built-in iSight/macbook

Hi,

can I use the built-in iSight camera in other programs than iChat?

I know nobody that uses iChat so it'll be pretty useless for me if that's the only program it works with.

I mostly use msn, is there any way i could use ichat for msn-services?

Greetings!

Have you tried iChat to AIM vidchat? Before I sink $100 into an iSight, I want to make sure it will work.

well, my mac has it included. but ichat does support and work well with vid chat to others. the embedded webcam works really great and is great quality too. itll work in ichat. even if the others dont have ichat or a webcam, urs will show to them. i do it pretty often. im the only guy with a mac of all my friends who i webcam chat with.

iChat to AIM doesn't always work.

Last night I tried with a friend for over an hour to get iChat and AIM to work together. There was some link, as we were IM each other through AIM but the video wouldn't fire up.

I (iChat) kept getting the message back from the video call that the video call had failed because I had failed to respond. That was not a typo - I was calling him, running AIM, but the error message was that I didn't respond.

On the other hand, around 3 months ago I successfully connected to AIM with a different friend - have they upgraded AIM recently? Is that the problem?

We're going to try Yahoo Messenger, next time we fancy wasting an hour of our lives.............
