Is there a use for Apple Software Coupon / Software Proof of Purchase?

Has anyone found a use for the Software Coupon / Software Proof of Purchase cards? I've seen one of these cards with each Apple branded program I buy, but I've never heard of it being used. I am curious why they bother when they never use it.

Well you could have used them to get into the exclusive party celebrating Apple's 30th on April 1st. We had a blast. Since you missed that, they can also be used as a substitute for dental floss if you have something stuck in your teeth. Other than those choices, there has never been an official use.

I've wondered about this too. I've gotten cards since system 7 or 8, and never had a need to use one. I guess they're building up to something...)

I've used one.. once... ages ago...

Apple released an update to a software package for free to current users. They also shipped out a CD for $20 or so. To get the software, I had to send in one of these cupons...

I think this is what they are for...

They're the ultimate "just in case" item.
