Problem with G3 after HD failure

My son's hard drive failed and he purchased another one, a Maxtor 120 Gig. Upon installing and and trying to load Tiger on it, the machine will start the installation process, gets to the personal information screen, and freeezes.



Now if he boots up in safe mode, the machine will load. This is driving us crazy. We have crashed the machine sevral times, and reformated the drive. With three other machines in the house, we have tried to migrate, re-install all or partial, as well as just load OS from the dvd.



Any help would be appreciated.

    Can you boot from the HD on the other machines?

    Try creating a smaller partion and install OSX on that. Make the partion something like 6 gig.

    Yes he can boot to the HD from same make and model machine
