idisk wont leave the desktop!

someone please help. im at my wits end. i made a 'local copy' of my idisk so now the icon sits on my desktop and has the files from my idisk. i decided i dont want it there anymore but cant get rid of it. when i drag it the trash turns into the eject sign and yet dragging it onto that does nothing. pulling up a menu on it shows no option for eject or move to trash. restarts wont make it leave.

how do i get rid of this damn thing?

    Try turning off iDisk syncing first.
