Not sure if this is the right forum for this, but it seems as good as any...

Traditionally, Java performance on PowerPC has been shocking compared to its performance on, say, Intel-based Linux systems.

Does the move to Intel processors mean that Java on OS X is now that fast?

Or is it an issue with OS X itself?

NetBeans (Java development environment) runs really sweet on my Intel iMac, but I had to bump up the RAM to 1.5 Gb, because it was crawling.
