got off the phone with the applestore yesterday: they told me that OS X Jaguar is going to be version 10.4 and available late-summer: so probably announcement at MWNY with the 'available in august' statement. No info though on wether it's a paid or free upgrade.

Hey, somebody give the Apple store a jingle and see when to expect the G5?

You know, I think that the Apple Store employees like to make sh!t like this up. I'm sure they get all kinds of questions from overzealous mac-heads (like me ) and some of them like to have some fun making stories up. I guess I'd do the same if I were in their shoes.

Regardless if the information is fake, made-up, or just here for us to b*tch about from this other guy who posted it, I think a 10.4 release makes no sense too. Also I have experienced the Apple help and store guys knowing less than me about many problems in the past, and I am pleased to see many of the help advice postings on their site (even one in the updated help files in OS X itself) be word-for-word what I ended up doing to resolve an issue. I am far from a Mac-knowledge Guru too...kinda scary... It may be true that he heard it, but I would not count it as reliable information.
