Voice chatting with AIM members?

On AIM in Windows, they used to have a way of talking to people with a mic. It was kinda lame, but now that I have a microphone I'd like to do some internet voice chatting with some long distant friends. Is there any program out ther that will let you do this. AOL Instand Messenger for OS X, Adium, Fire, and Proteus don't support this. A long time ago when I used Windows, there was a program called PalTalk but that won't work because it suppors Windows only. Is there any program out there that can be downloaded by both Mac and Windows users to do some internet voice chatting? Hopefully iChat will take care of this problem. <img src="graemlins/oyvey.gif" border="0" alt="[No]" />

We can only hope, No one gives a **** about the Mac when it comes to Voice Chat, Let's hope Apple will include Voice Chat to iChat.

Yes it definitely would. It would also be nice if they had an option for video conferencing...but that might be asking to much of Apple. Although I do like the file transfering option.

Apple has the tools in place for video conferencing so its not asking much at all. Qith Quicktime Broadcaster it is theoretically possible today.

2 firewire cams, run QT Broadcaster on each machine and then connect to the streams with QT Player.

All Apple has to do is tie this into the iChat program and simplify it a bit.

I think AIM in OS 9 has voice over IP. Can't remember tho, cuz I haven't used it in like a year or so.

Yes, the OS 9 version still has a "talk" feature. If you really want to try it and do not mind a reboot to do so, you can do it with the AIM 4.3 (add a million extra numbers here) release for OS 9. You can find it on AOL's page online, of course.
