Well maybe. Take a look at the screenshot below, and then what I circled in red (thank you OmniGraffle). This was taken from WebMD.com

Your thoughts?

Maybe I'm dumb, but I have no idea what you're trying to say

Apple has an instant messenger program that will be bundled with Jaguar called iChat. Look at the above screen shot, and what I circled... "iChat plug-in." Not the least bit weird?

I'd think you should think through these things a bit more before you post.

Apple's iChat is not some plugin; it's a full-fledged Cocoa application. Besides, it's an AOL Instant Messenger app, not some web-based chat tool.

I'd have to say the name is just a coincidence.

I agree with starfleet. This is not the first time this has happened.

    Previous instances: iBook, iTools

There might be more.. iChat looks like the latest.

I am fully aware of that, my point is maybe Apple bought iChat and iChat previously could utilize plug-ins like the one seen at WebMD?

Maybe this is where Apple bought it from, after all the name iChat is ®. I really am not sure, the website does state they have a messaging application but no mention of Apple. Probably not, strange though...

Maybe, but after having extensively tested iChat and thoroughly browsed through its resources, I never saw anything that looked like it'd be related to a web-based chat interface.

I just think it was a bit farfetched for you to claim you had "proof" of anything to this sort.

Now, I may be wrong, but I am pretty sure that back in the day, Yahoo! Chat gave you two options: using a java chat interface, or downloading a browser plugin called ichat. My guess is that that is the plugin referred to on the WebMD page.

I can't find the source, but I too had read a while ago that there were rumors about Apple purchasing the iChat name for US$120,000.
