Out of Range Resolution

I'm using a powermac with a NEC moniter. When i try to launch some games (Oni and Raven Shield) i get the message from my moniter that the game is out of range. Anyone know how to fix this. I've tried almost everything. I know what i need to do (set the resolution settings from inside the game) but I can't seen anything at all, so i can't adjust these settings. Any advice?
