PB screen contrast

I gave a loan of my PB to somebody yesterday and when I got it back last night the screen looks as though it's had it's contrast turned up WAY beyond max.

I've tried to change all the settings in the prefs panel, and I've tried changing the colour profiles but nothing helps.

If I login in as a different user the screen is fine. Is there a feature that boosts the brightness/contrast on the PowerBooks (like Movie Mode or similar). If there is, does anybody know how to switch it off?

Many Thanks!

System Preferences -> Universal Access -> Seeing -> Display -> Enhance contrast?

Excellent troubleshooting step. That PROVES that the issue is a preference setting on that account, and rules out any hardware or OS problem.
