I wouldn't push your luck. Laptops change often and the slightest change can cause a major overhaul in dimensions and design. I've never owned a iBook, but that would have the greatest chance of success if both laptops were the same model manufactured in roughly the same year.
Not only do you have to be concerned with fit but the board has to be able to connect to and function with the other hardware such as keyboard, screen and power supply.
