I used Symantec on my PC, but they aren't supporting Mac now.
Could you recommend a utility?
Stay far away from Symantec.
TechTool works good for me, as does DiskWarrior. I have both because DiskWarrior is more of a one-trick pony (which is does VERY well) and TechTool is a bunch of various tricks.
I've had some problems with Tech Tool Pro that resulted in a reformat so I'm not too happy about that. Probably a fluke though. Disk warrior is simple, fast, and does the job. No problems so far.
I know that my local Apple store tech uses TechTool for troubleshooting, hard and software. But Disk Warrior gets the greatest respect for what it does best: repairing your HD.
It looks like the consensus of opinion is Disk Warrior, with some votes for Techtools. I appreciate your help. I do not like to fly blind. I've bought some pretty poor apps in the past.

Norton is the suck so don't even consider it.
