Is Apple creating the "Office" of Digital Video?

With all the Acquisitions lately, particularly the Digital Video companies. Do you think Apple will eventually create a DV Bundle? Microsoft hit paydirt with Office because you could buy 4 apps for the price of two or less. This spurred sales and Office went on to dominate. Could Apple be looking to accomplish the same on a smaller scale.

Imagine $2499.95 buys you.

1. Final Cut Pro

2. DVD Studio Pro

3. Xcomposite(hybrid Shake/Rayz/Chalice app)

4. Xtitle Prismo Graphics Tech for Titling.

Would something like that be a hit in the DV world? I think so. The one missing Apple Tech is a decent Audio application for better scoring.

Well, video production is a bit more complicated than simple document creation. But a nicely integrated suite of highly versatile tools that can go from DV to 2K film on one workstation, with scalable backend render management, is not out of the question. Please also remember the important bit: Apple have aquired the two _leading_ high-end compositing systems for film and HD. That means a niche market at the moment, but an ever expanding market and loads of mindshare. And the people that came with the aquisitions are some of the very best. These people know how to build truly professional production solutions, systems that handle literally days of film consisting of several terabytes of data. They will, in short, be the new, improved and slightly cheaper SGI+AVID.

Since I`ve been using Shake for the last 2 years, I know that this will kick ass when they AltiVec it (the architecture of Shake is ideal for it, being built around a compiler principle), along with the Cineon stuff from Rayz, proper QT integration, easy EDL/project interchange between compositor and editor and finally good output options - from DVD to film. And all on one workstation, 4 Xserves in the background crunching numbers...

    I want it yesterday.

A gnurf you're making ME excited with the possibilities. I've always considered Audio to be my passion but with the ease that DV makes editing i'm thinking that Video may be just as fun
